Owls- What I am Teaching This Week.

Happy November friends! I hope you all had a great Halloween and have recovered from last week.

This week we are taking on a fun non fiction topic Owls! I enjoy watching the kids discover these wonderful birds and see how their knowledge and vocabulary just blooms!

We will be starting off the week with my favorite non fiction author Gail Gibbons.
Before we begin reading we will be creating an anchor chart for students to share what they already know. Here are some I found on pinterest

I also created these organizers for my students to fill out. Depending on their level will determine which one they will work on

The next book we will dive into is Little Owl's Night
I recently discover this book while reading it to my niece and nephew. I absolutely fell in love with it! I was SO excited to find that one of my favorite sellers Primary Graffiti created an AMAZING book companion to go with the book!

This is FILLED with tons of vocabulary charts, interactive notebook ideas, sequencing activities and much more. I can't wait to use it this week!

A few other books we will also be reading during the week are

We will be using Owl Moon to retell events in a story. At the end of the week I am going to have my students write about all the new facts and information they discovered this week.

As for literacy centers we are continuing to work on punctuation with these task cards

plus we will also continue to work on verbs

Hope you all have a great week!
