These are just a few of the books I share during the week
To start off we read about the apple life cycle. The book Apples by Gail Gibbons has so much great information to start off any topic. After the book we chart about some things about apples. Here is an example that I found on Pinterest.
For some follow up activities I have some math, literacy and science printables that we have out in our stations during the week. Here is a sneak peak of a few of them

We talk about some apple words/ vocabulary with these picture and word cards
The students use these cards and pictures to show the life cycle of an apple seed. You can grab them for FREE just by clicking the picture or here Apple Life Cycle.
For some hands- on literacy centers we have lots activities. One of their favorites is building sentences from word cards and then writing them down.
This set I took the sentence and printed them on colored paper to save some ink. Each sentence is a different color so the words do no get mixed up. You can see the whole set here:Apple Sentence Scrambles.
One new activity I made for this year is this Apple Sorting Activity
Students sort the pictures based on their short vowel sounds. CVC Short Vowel Apple Sort
This is also the time of the year where we start to talk and hear A LOT about fact and opinion. We complete this whole group sorting activity on a pocket chart where students hear what is on the card and then decide if it is a fact or an opinion.
We create an anchor chart like this with the information that we discovered
From all the information we gather the students work on a few different activities. Last year I had my students make a flip book that told us all about who he was.
Other students sequenced his life with pictures and others did some writing. You can see all of those activities in this resource Johnny Appleseed Printables.
I have more craft, science and math ideas over on my September Adventures board on Pinterest.
As a thanks for stopping by I am having a sale on all of my apple resources for just this week. They are on all sale for 20% off this week! You can see them here. Apple Activities
