April??!! Already?! Anyone else feel like these past weeks have just flown by? Plus I know how CrAzY these last weeks of school can be! SOOO much to do!
Last week I came down with a lovely virus and was out of school for a few days. I know my lesson plans were put to the wayside and only "sub" activities were done. At my school we are required to have a sub folder filled with activities that anyone could do at any time. I have to say I was quite grateful for that this past week! I always try and update the activities I have in their to reflect what we have been working on in class. Most time it is a review of skill already taught so nothing new will be introduced. I have seen some great "sub" folders out there on tpt. Do you use any of them?
This week we will be playing catch up in Reading and Social Studies. We are staring to work on Antonyms and Synonyms this week. I created these fun task cards to help build these skills
These task cards have 2 differentiated activities. Students will either identify what the antonym is based on the picture shown in the first set. The 2nd set has the students reading the set of words then identifying which 2 words are antonyms.
For those students who have already mastered antonym they are introduced to synonyms. These are 2 activities with this set as well. Students need to decide if the pair of words shown are antonyms or synonyms. The other set of task cards has the student coming up with the answer on their own.
For Social Studies this week we will be finishing up our wants and needs unit. Then we dive into how technology helps us at school/ home plus, how it has changed over the year. To help teach that concept I pull out my now and then unit and focus on the pictures of tools that help us.
*TPT highlighted this unit on their blog post today!!! See it here:
